FBHA Housing and Recovery members develop recovery strategies with a particular focus on recovery strategies working in tandem with recovery housing programs. Housing and Recovery members take a critical look at what exists, what works, and develop new housing initiatives by building partnerships with recovery organizations and housing coalitions throughout the state.
Identifying the Mission
Promote strategies and policies that support recovery and reduce stigma; build capacity to offer support services such as housing and jobs; build partnerships with recovery organizations; and build public support for recovery initiatives.
Developing the Plan
- Promote supportive housing opportunities
- Educate on strategies for operating in the housing marketplace
- Support voluntary certification of recovery residences and residence administrator initiatives
- Lead efforts to reduce stigma related to substance use and mental health disorders
The Florida Coalition for the Homeless and the Florida Supportive Housing Coalition held their 2016 conference October 5-7 in Orlando. The theme, From Dream to Reality; Creating Permanent Solutions for All focused on the importance of engaging the whole community in ending homelessness and creating housing opportunities for persons with special needs.
